How to Make Refreshing Lemonade
Lemonade is a classic summertime beverage that is both refreshing and easy to make. With just a few simple ingredients, you can enjoy a delicious and thirst-quenching drink in no time.
Ingredients:
- 6 lemons
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 10 cups (2.5 liters) water
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- Wash the lemons: Rinse the lemons thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Zest the lemons (optional): If you want to add extra flavor to your lemonade, use a vegetable zester or grater to remove the thin outer skin (zest) of 2-3 lemons. Avoid zesting the white pith, as it can be bitter.
- Juice the lemons: Cut the lemons in half and use a citrus juicer or reamer to extract the juice. Aim for about 1 cup of lemon juice.
- Make the lemonade base: In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add water and ice: Gradually add the water to the lemonade base, stirring to combine. Adjust the amount of water to your desired sweetness level. Fill the pitcher with ice cubes.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled with additional ice cubes and lemon slices, if desired.
Tips:
- For a sweeter lemonade, add more sugar to taste.
- For a tarter lemonade, add more lemon juice.
- For a fizzy lemonade, add club soda or sparkling water.
- To enhance the flavor, add a few sprigs of mint or a splash of fruit juice, such as orange, grape, or cranberry.
- Enjoy your refreshing homemade lemonade!
