- For the Patties:
- 1 pound (500g) ground beef
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- For Toppings:
- Lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices
- Cheese slices
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard

Instructions:
- Make the Buns: a. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. b. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. c. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a shaggy dough forms. d. Add the softened butter and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. e. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size. f. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. g. Shape each piece of dough into a round ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. h. Cover the buns with plastic wrap and let rise again for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size. i. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). j. Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. k. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the Patties: a. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. b. Mix gently until just combined. c. Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions. d. Shape each portion into a patty that is about 1/2-inch thick. e. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. f. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
- Assemble the Burgers: a. Split the buns open. b. Place a lettuce leaf, tomato slice, onion slice, and cheese slice on the bottom bun. c. Top with a hamburger patty. d. Add your favorite toppings, such as mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, and pickles. e. Cover with the top bun and enjoy!
